Filip Jicha: Successful operation in London

The reigning Champions League winner FC Barcelona will miss Filip Jicha for about ten weeks. The Czech player, who was already sidelined since several weeks, undergone a groin operation in London as the Spanish club announced.

Jicha surprisingly left German powerhouse THW Kiel right at the beginning of the season. The 33-year-old Czech already had injury problems in recent time and missed the pre-season phase due to pubis problems. For this reason he was expected to get back on the pitch not prior to October. But he played already for Barcelona in the first matches of the VELUX EHF Champions League and scored 24 goals in nine matches.

"The operation happened on Tuesday and the result was satisfying", announced the Spanish champion in a press release adding that Filip Jicha will be missed - as expectet before - ten more weeks. "The big part of this all is behind me", Filip Jicha wrote in Facebook. The backfielder added: "Wasn`t easy, but better days are coming. For sure. Thanks a lot to Prof. Schilders and Dr. Puigdellivol and all staff here at Wellington Hospital London."
